Luxury spas you can visit in and around Greater Manchester that are up for national awards

If there’s one way to truly escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s by visiting a spa. From experiencing soothing treatments to dipping your toes in infinity pools and Jacuzzis, spa days or breaks can leave you feeling completely rejuvenated.

If you want to visit a spa, there are many renowned facilities in and around Greater Manchester that have been voted some of the best in the UK. Natura Bissé has just unveiled its shortlist for the Good Spa Guide Awards 2022, with some spas in the region appearing in the list of finalists.

The industry event recognizes top spas across the country with categories including Best Day Spa, Best Wellness Spa and Best destination spa.

Here are some of the spas in and around Greater Manchester that are up for national awards and well worth taking a day or overnight break.

Best day spa



Ribby Hall Village Spa Hotel

Mottram Hall in Wilmslow has been nominated for the Best Day Spa award. Set in 270 acres of immaculate landscaped gardens, the Mottram Hall Spa features 15 treatment rooms, two swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzis and steam rooms, and a state-of-the-art gym.

The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall in Preston is also shortlisted for this award. Less than an hour’s drive from Manchester, the stylish spa hotel in Ribby Hall Village is a spa area with a large hydrotherapy pool, garden terrace, outdoor hot tub and hot tub. ‘sauna.

Located in Knutsford, the Cottons Hotel & Spa is also among the facilities nominated for this award, along with the Best Boutique Spa Award . Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa

Set in 100 acres of Lancashire countryside, Burnley’s Woodland Spa is up for the award for best hotel spa. The Thermal Experience Journey includes a range of heat rooms, as well as a hydrotherapy pool, an outdoor infinity pool and a tranquil “serenity pool” in a low-light relaxation room.

Just over an hour’s drive from Manchester in Nantwich is the Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa. The elegant hotel is set in scenic Cheshire parkland and has a heated glass-roofed swimming pool, heating facilities, a rasul and two dedicated relaxation rooms.

The Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool is also nominated in this category. The hotel’s spa includes a 15-meter indoor pool, spa facilities, seven treatment rooms and a body ice machine.

Best health club spa



Hale Country Club and Spa

The Hale Country Club & Spa was voted one of the top health club spas in the awards. Located in Trafford, the Greater Manchester Spa offers a modern setting to relax, unwind and pamper, where guests can dip into the heated outdoor pools, Finnish sauna, steam room, herbal room and sauna at the salt, as well as overflow basin wellness.

The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford is also nominated in this category. This stylish resort and spa is a beautiful mix of old and new, with exposed brickwork and a bright, modern design including a 25-metre swimming pool, vitality pool, large hammam, aroma diffusion room, caldarium, a salt inhalation room and a sauna.

Aria Spa in Warrington is a luxury holistic spa using all natural and organic products. Here you can enjoy holistic therapy-style treatments before discovering the rooftop infinity pool, indoor/outdoor pool, herbal steam room and fire and ice room.

Best spa for wellness

The Nàdarra Spa in Skipton, located just over an hour from Manchester, is named best spa for wellbeing. The award-winning spa is in a rural setting and features four swimming pools, a thermal suite with saunas, steam room, ice fountain, and a private spa garden with two large copper baths that was newly built in 2021.

Voting for the prizes will open at 9 a.m. on May 16 and end at 5 p.m. on June 6.
