GRAND RAPIDS, MI – There are many “Log Cabin” bars across the state. You can find them in places like Lewiston and Saginaw. But that of Grand Rapids, 2401 Division Avenue, is the only nominee for Michigan’s Best.

The Log Cabin Cocktail Lounge was one of the top voters of our online survey and will be on the itinerary of John “Gonzo” Gonzalez on his tour across the state in search of Michigan’s best neighborhood bar.

According to the bar’s website, the Log Cabin was operated in the town of
Wyoming since 1938 and owned by the Potter family since 1975. Those who appointed the bar mentioned that Matt Potter played football at GVSU and that his mother-in-law (and co-owner) is very active in local fundraisers. In other words, the place has a history and regulars know it and feel like extended family.

The website also states that the pub offers live music, karaoke and beer pong and never a cover charge. They are definitely ready for our visit because they have uploaded a Facebook event page with dozens already committed to join us on our arrival.

But I would like to know more. I have never been there and would love to hear about “must see” or “must do” things or events at this popular waterhole.

Join the conversation in the comments section and don’t forget to join us on Friday September 12 for the tour to help support your favorite bar. You can get the full itinerary here or by following Gonzo on Twitter.
