The family beauty salon still going strong – 40 years later

A ST HELENS beauty salon celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and counts the children and grandchildren of original customers as current customers.

Four decades ago, Gaynor, Clair Kirkpatrick’s mother, opened a face and figure beauty clinic on Claughton Street in the city center and has undergone several transformations, with new treatments included as science behind the industry is evolving.

Over 1,000 clients use the clinic, some having visited since day one in business with the team of six therapists offering a wide range of treatments.

Speaking to The Star ahead of a weekend celebrating independent business, Clair said, “We are a family business with a real personal touch and we pride ourselves on making all of our customers feel special.

“We offer laser hair removal and fractional resurfacing, which are by far our most popular post-lockout treatments, as well as tattoo and thread vein removal, and tailor-made facials using the highest quality products.

“Fungal nail removal, acne scar and stretch mark treatments and other anti-aging therapies are available and we also have a semi-permanent makeup artist and cosmetic nurse practitioner.”

The Covid-19 restrictions have meant Clair and his team have put the celebrations on hold, but they hope to invite clients, old and new, to try certain treatments on a demonstration day later in the year.
