ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Revival Salon & Spa has continued to operate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and owner Darcee Williams is looking forward to meeting the area’s beauty needs in the future.

“We opened in March and two weeks later we were closed” she said of 2020.

The show was able to continue despite regulations and restrictions. Williams resumed operations in May 2020, but was unable to open at full capacity.

“It was super tough because we went there for two months, nothing. When we got back it was actually quite busy. … We were actually able to grow during the pandemic. It was difficult just because of (personal protective equipment) and all the sanitary facilities and all the regulations and guidelines that we had to deal with, but now that they’ve lifted it, that makes it a little bit easier.

Like many businesses, the show had staff issues.

“We’re not in trouble, but we could definitely use talent and new people here,” she said.

“Girls who graduate from beauty school, they are slow to do their state councils and then find people to work for us,” she said. “I would say we have a good team because we have employees and stand builders here, but it’s been difficult because sometimes we don’t know if we’re going to make a rent.”

Williams graduated in cosmetology in 2019 and decided to go into business after holding a booth in West Virginia.

“We found this building and I had only been in the business for a year, so I kind of took a leap of faith that it could work, and we just haven’t stopped since. I have had a love for hair and beauty since I was a little girl ”, she said.

She recalled the first days of the pandemic.

“It just took a lot of enthusiasm and I just had to be on my guard. I had tremendous help from my husband, who is behind the scenes ”, Williams said.

Williams said his company prides itself on quality and variety.

“I try to be a one stop shop. We offer hair, nails, massages, facials, eyelash extensions and spray tans. We are looking to develop even more in medical services in the future ”, she said. “We are studying botox and Juvederm (lip injections), possibly permanent makeup. We want the overall customer experience to propel you out of the water.

“The community is overflowing with love and support. It’s a brand new place. Some people are careful to try it. Others come to tell all their friends about it. she said.
