Elise Luxury Hair Boutique in Wibsey is shortlisted for Best Salon of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

Owner Elise Mongan had been a hairstylist for 16 years, working in some of Bradford’s biggest salons, before gaining the courage to fly solo.

So far, this has turned out to be a brilliant decision. Not only was the show nominated this year, in 2021 it finished eighth in the Best Salon category.

Elise hopes to go further this time and maybe even win the first prize.

She said: “We’re up again this year which is absolutely amazing, I couldn’t be happier about that. It would be great if we got closer or even won.

“I have experience in trendy salons and wanted to give the industry my flair, so I opened a luxury hair shop. It just did amazing.

“I am truly passionate about providing my clients with a luxury experience. When they come to my salon, it’s not just a haircut. I am quite committed to making the customer feel good.

Starting in January 2020, Elise opened her business in arguably the most difficult time for the industry, with many stores having to close and close due to restrictions.

She did manage to squeeze the bright spots out of the bigger picture, however, saying it allowed her, among other things, to build the store’s online profile.

“I opened the salon six weeks before the confinement,” added Elise.

“It was really tough, but we just thrived. I managed to work a lot on the business in my spare time.

“There is something else to do than work on a client’s head. I’m pretty tall on my social media and I think that’s how you get noticed.

“Social networks are really important to any business. It’s a second job.

“It’s hard to get the two to work, but I think it helps you stay up to date and keep customers up to date with what you’re doing. ”

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards – which will be judged by Amy Childs, Kirsty Meakin and Katie Daley this year – aim to support businesses in the sector, regardless of their financial and social status. The online ceremony will take place on March 23.
