The best of beauty East Seducethe north star, our reason for being, our superbowl. Of course, like so many other traditions, it looks a little different in 2020 – but in the best possible way. Really. You see, in our minds, beauty is ultimately about connection. Sure, it makes us look good, but it also grounds us and we need it more than ever. So what better opportunity than Best of Beauty to bring some of our all-time favorite beauty experts to your home for the first time?

Thanks to our new friend and constant companion Zoom, this year we have the opportunity to invite beauty lovers from all corners of the world to two weeks of Best of Beauty celebrations. These encounters will give you access to some of the beauty industry‘s most sought-after celebrities, makeup artists, hairstylists and aesthetic medicine professionals, not to mention the Seduce publishers you turn to every day for expert advice.

Black Hair Culture: A Conversation with Taraji P. Henson

On Monday, September 21, we kick off our Best of Beauty event series with Black Hair Culture: A Conversation with Taraji P. Henson. The superstar actress launched a haircare line this year that our editors fell in love with and it’s now won her first-ever Best of Beauty award. “If I hadn’t become an actress, it would have been cosmetology because I love hair,” she said. Recount Seduce editor Jihan Forbes when she first revealed Taraji’s TPH last March. (In college, Henson’s side hustle was doing wet sets for $20 a pop.) Now Henson, Forbes, and Seduce Director Jessica Cruel is going to have an unfiltered conversation about growing black hair and, yes, all the products they’ve loved before (and maybe some washing issues). 100% of the $10 ticket price will go to the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, a non-profit organization named after Henson’s father, who faced mental health issues following his Vietnam tour. The group is dedicated to eradicating the stigma surrounding mental illness in the black community.

Behind the Cover: Q&A with Hung Vanngo

Hung Vanngo is one of the most sought-after celebrity makeup artists in the industry. He made up for nine Seduce covers (including Taraji P. Henson’s July 2015 cover!). But our October 2020 coverage marks the first time he’s done it 2,000 miles away, guide Selena Gomez as she did her own makeup. The results? Absolutely – and unsurprisingly – gorgeous. And now it’s your turn. During Behind the Cover: Q&A with Hung Vanngo on Tuesday September 22, the make-up artist, joined by Seduce editors Jenny Bailly and Brennan Kilbane, will guide everyone on how they can achieve the look themselves. Then we’ll open the floor for questions so Vanngo can answer all your burning makeup questions. (Hint: He’s earned the nickname “Hung Vannglow,” so be sure to press him on the dewy skin tricks he uses on Emily Ratajkowski, Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth, and more.) $10 admission will benefit Huong Duong House, a center for physically and mentally handicapped orphans located near the village in Vietnam where Vanngo was born.

Does the name Shari Marchbein sound familiar to you? If you are a regular Seduce reader, it should be — she’s one of the board-certified dermatologists our editors regularly turn to for the most knowledgeable advice and information on every skin topic imaginable. During Dig into skincare: A visit with dermatologist Shari Marchbein On Wednesday, September 23, two of these editors, Sarah Kinonen and Dianna Mazzone, will be chatting live with the Unilever Ambassador about everything you can’t wait to know (the routines, the products, the procedures) about how to manage pigmentation , rashes, fine lines and, hey, even real itchiness! And just in case they don’t touch on the topic you’re wondering about about skin, don’t worry: you’ll have a chance to ask your most pressing skincare question during the event. . Free entry.

Zoom-Worthy Hair How-Tos: Live Tutorials with Justine Marjan and Lacy Redway

You can’t imagine celebrities like Ashley Graham, Kerry Washington, Tessa Thompson, and Kristin Cavallari without imagining some of their most enviable hairstyles. And you can’t argue with the stylists who created these styles without getting some serious self-styling advice. So let us introduce you! Thursday, September 24 Practical tips for zoom-worthy hair, Seduce editors Liz Siegel and Paige Stables will greet red carpet regulars Justine Marjan and Lacy Red as they guide you through live (and free!) hairstyle tutorials that will have you rethinking your work-from-home look. Prepare to be blown away by how easily you can make a super fancy new video call. (And yes, the styles will translate to real life and look absolutely awesome in person, too.)

Makeup above the mask: a private lesson with Priscilla Ono

Very few people in this world benefit directly from the mastery of makeup artist Priscilla Onobut thanks to Make-up above the mask on Tuesday, September 29, you’ll have that in common with Rihanna. Seduce Editors Kara McGrath and Kat Suico will host a private makeup lesson with Fenty Beauty’s global makeup artist, helping you create a look that takes any face – covered in public or uncovered at home – to a new level. fabulous. Ono will, of course, be showcasing Fenty Beauty’s Best of Beauty award-winning Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder, but also many of the other most-used products in her kit. K-beauty might have seemed like a trend a few years ago, but Korea’s influence on beauty is clearly here to stay. Do you feel like you have some catching up to do? Come take a seat (virtually)! On Wednesday, September 30, Seduce editors Devon Abelman and Sarah Han will discuss with New York- and Seoul-based dermatologist Claire Chang and Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho talk about the most exciting trends coming out of Korea (and maybe K-pop gossip). The panel will share their favorite Korean Best of Beauty winners and what we can expect to see next from the epicenter of beauty innovation. This year, for the very first time, our editors also helped our colleagues from Allure Korea test for their Best of Beauty Awards, so you’ll get a taste (and maybe some demos) of these exciting tools and formulas.
