Renowned fashion designer Jason Wu is no stranger to Target collaborations. In 2011, Wu dropped a limited-edition clothing collection for the retailer that sold out in less than twenty-four hours. Now the trail maven is back at the mass market retailer, but with something a little different. In January, Wu teamed up with NYX Professional Cosmetics founder Toni Ko to drop his bespoke product (and do so permanently) Jason Wu Beauty Collection at Target, bringing her runway sensibility to the beauty arena – and at accessible prices to boot. “My brand is associated with the runway, which requires makeup and hairstyles. Beauty is such an important aspect of our industry and is vital to achieving a successful runway look so it felt like the natural next step for me,” Wu told StyleCaster.

As a leading designer who has dressed Jessica Alba, Jamie King and the GOAT Michelle Obamait may surprise some that everything in Wu’s beauty collection is under $20, but inclusivity and accessibility – while capturing Jason Wu’s brand DNA, of course – was the top priority for Wu and Ko in bringing the line to market. “When it comes to beauty, the market seems very saturated, so this prestigious client was not suitable for us. So many younger customers are fans of the brand but can’t necessarily buy Jason Wu Clothingand we felt it was important to reach that audience with this line, and Target was the perfect partner for us in that regard,” he says.

While the collection offers a few skincare products, including the Patches Saved By The Pimple Patch Patches ($11.99) and the Wu-Prime Nourishing Priming Oil ($15.99), Ko and Wu have pledged to focus on color cosmetics for now — especially nudes, underscored by an all-encompassing “less is more” approach to makeup. “Nude tones throughout the collection have been carefully chosen for a less is more makeup concept. The nude is an important part of the Jason The DNA of the Wu brand, which is why the nuances extend to the packaging of the products. We wanted to be inclusive, so we expanded the nude range from rosy nude to taupe and brown,” he explains.

From elevated packaging, to premium formulas, to nuanced shade selections, Jason Wu’s beauty drop is perhaps one of the most exciting things to happen to the affordable beauty space since. some time. Jason Wu The BUSH Eyebrow Shaper Soap

This brow-defining “soap” is probably my favorite item in the collection. It heals, gives volume and, above all, keeps my eyebrows literally intact all day. I like to use it alone with a layer over my brow pencil for a bushier look.

Hot Fluff Lipstick

Available in seven truly universally flattering shades, Fluff Lipstick has become my new go-to (I love the shade Eclaire pictured above), and the formula is creamy yet dries to a comfortable matte finish. My favorite thing about it is that it’s designed to be used on your lips, eyes, and cheeks if desired, which really sums up Wu’s “less is more” approach.

Jason The Freckled Boy Beauty Mark Fake Freckled Pen

Fake freckles have been my favorite beauty trends in recent years, and this surefire pen lets you achieve a sun-kissed look that’s reminiscent of your favorite Instagram IRL filter. Plus, it doesn’t smudge or transfer.

Matte Magic Face Oil

As someone with combination skin (some areas are desert-dry and some are total oil slick), this mattifying face oil is literally a dream product. It provides a healthy dose of hydration to nourish and prep skin for makeup, but keeps excess oil and oil at bay all day long.
